PLEASE NOTE: Scouting America (formerly Boy Scouts of America, or BSA) has updated the Pinewood Derby wheel molds. These new wheels began production in late 2025 and started appearing in kits in Spring 2026. The previous wheels (first produced in 2009) are still in circulation. We are offering both the new (2025) and older (2009) wheels. The main difference is the lettering on the outside of the wheel: the new wheels have “OFFICIAL” on the sidewall instead of “BSA,” which appears on the 2009 version. The new wheels have excellent spin characteristics, but are a bit heavier (approximately 0.35g more) than the old wheels. If you purchase modified wheels, we recommend using the old (2009) wheels unless your rules require wheels from the current year or a current kit, because of this weight difference.

- The double step from the outer hub was removed, reducing contact with the axle head
- The inner hub is tapered to reduce contact with the car body
- Both inner and outer tread edges are sharpened to reduce contact surface with the track
- Weigh 1.70-1.75 grams each (2025 mold wheels are slightly heavier)
- 1.10-1.12 inches in diameter
- All official lettering remains on the inside and outside of the wheel
